Non Profit and Government Agencies That Provide Assistance
The Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation is a non-profit organization. They provide fixed-rate mortgage financing and down payment assistance. They also offer mortgage credit certificates for teachers, police officers, corrections officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, veterans, and low and moderate-income households. TSAHC helps first-time home buyers, repeat home buyers, and existing homeowners.
The FHA, Federal Housing Administration, a branch of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, HUD, has created a program to help home buyers. They provide a loan that makes it easier to buy a home for those that might not otherwise have the opportunity.
The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs offers home buyers help as well. They provide assistance and expertise for families with low to moderate income looking for their first home. The first time homebuyer requirement is even waived for veterans. They also provide homeownership classes for all assistance recipients.
